This project in California is an addition to a single-family home. It infills a rectangular void in the footprint of the existing house, creating a new bathroom and closet adjacent to the master bedroom.

The new addition has a butterfly roof that continues the rhythm of the house’s profile, while an exposed box gutter creates a delineation between the original and the new. The interior is an interplay between a pristine white box (the bathroom) and a tactile wood box (the closet).
